Expo Commemoration Park "Autumn Leaves Festival"
Expo Commemoration Park is dyed in autumn colors, including Japanese maples and mountain maples.
There will also be various events where you can experience autumn in Japan with all your senses!
Basic information
■ Autumn leaves at the Natural and Cultural Gardens
The highlights of the Natural and Cultural Gardens are the Momiji Valley and, going further in, the Momiji Falls.
You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the cascading waterfall and autumn leaves.
Additionally, the plane trees that stand out against the stone pavement of Nishioji Street and the colorful trees seen from the top of Solardo are also beautiful and highly recommended.
The leaves around the Nature Observation Learning Center start to turn red in mid-October.
The earliest in the Natural and Cultural Gardens, the large maple-like leaves of the American gypsophila turn a gradation of red, orange, and yellow. Combined with the enkianthus azaleas and ginkgo trees planted along the Nakatsu Road, it creates a beautiful sight.
There are also many other spots to see autumn leaves in the western area of the Natural and Cultural Gardens, such as Hyotan Pond.
■ Autumn leaves in the Japanese garden
The Japanese garden is a masterpiece created by bringing together the best of Japanese landscaping techniques.
The red-hued garden is beautiful and captivates all who see it.
We will introduce some spots where you can enjoy the autumn leaves to the fullest in Japanese gardens.
The National Council for Cultural Affairs has submitted a recommendation to the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology that Japanese gardens be registered as national monuments.
