Semba Shinsaibashi Shopping Street

This shopping street is located on the east side of Midosuji, Osaka's main street, where historic shrines, temples and luxury shops line the streets. Originally it was mainly a wholesaler of textile goods, so there are plenty of bargains to be found here.

This is an arcade shopping street that runs north and south from the east side of Hommachi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line to near Shinsaibashi Station.
After the construction of Kita-Mido and Minami-Mido, shops developed around the area, and it has developed especially as a wholesale district. Since the Meiji period, it has been a shopping district where wholesalers, mainly of textile goods, gathered and people came from all over the country to buy goods, but now the wholesale aspect has faded and many retail, food and beverage, and service businesses are operating. In addition, there are many hotels and large business buildings in the surrounding area, so there are many restaurants where people have to wait in line, especially for inbound tourists.
