Yamaguchi family residence

It is one of the few townhouses from the early Edo period in Japan and is a national important cultural property.

The Yamaguchi family home is one of the few remaining townhouses built in the early Edo period shortly after the city of Sakai was burned down in the Battle of Osaka, and is a valuable building designated as an Important Cultural Property by the national government.
During the latter half of the Edo period, storehouses, tatami rooms and other facilities were added, and the current layout was completed.
The garden is centered around a large 200-year-old hazel tree, and the property exudes a dignified atmosphere in the quiet residential area.
