Raigoji Temple (Moriguchi City)

It is said that even wandering ghosts left their footprints in this temple and attained Buddhahood. This is a temple that has attracted people's faith since the Kamakura period.

Raikoji Temple was built in 1347 in Raigyo-cho, Moriguchi City, as the head temple of the Sada school by the disciple of the Yuzu Nembutsu sect Chuko Homyo, the founder of the Yuzu Nembutsu sect. The temple's main image is Tenhitsu Nyorai (a shadow of the three deities Amida, Kannon, and Seishi). Due to the temple's unique inheritance system, the temple has moved its location 26 times over the last 300 years as the head priest changed, but in 1678 it was relocated to its current location in Sada-Nakamachi, where it remains to this day. The "Silk Hachiman Mandala" handed down at Raikoji Temple is a nationally designated important cultural property, and the "Thirteen-story stone pagoda" behind the temple grounds is a tangible cultural property designated by Osaka Prefecture. There is also a seat with footprints of a female ghost that appeared at the temple in 1743, which is open to the public during the temple's memorial services. It was the site of Emperor Go-Murakami's imperial prayers, and the "throne" remains in the Daihojo even today.
