Minamihorie/Kitahorie area

A town where clothing, food, and housing are all stylish.

The Horie area has been gaining attention as a fashionable town. It used to be a town lined with lumber stores. The Horie River flows between the current border between Kita-Horie and Minami-Horie, and boats carrying lumber used to pass by. In 1945 (Showa 20), the area was burnt to the ground in a major air raid. After that, people who had evacuated returned and Tachibana Street, known as the furniture town, was created. In recent years, new stores have begun to open one after another in Horie. Clothing stores, general stores, cafes. The area is lined with fashionable stores that were ahead of their time, and it has become a town that attracts many people.
