Kuboji Jinanimachi
"Jinanimachi" where the town layout from 470 years ago still remains
It is said that Prince Shotoku founded a temple called "Kyuhoji" as a place of prayer for victory in the battle against Mononobe no Moriya, and although it no longer exists, this is said to be the origin of the place name Kuhoji. In 1470, Rennyo Shonin of Hongan-ji Temple preached at Kuhoji, and later built Saisho-ji Temple (now Kensho-ji Temple). Around 1541, Kuhoji Jinai Jinanimachi at its center. The grid-like layout of the town remains the same as it was back then. Every year in mid-September, the "Kyuhoji Jinanimachi Lantern Festival" is held, where over 1,000 lanterns are lit up.
