This “cultural park surrounded in greenery” was built in an area about 260 hectares, which was the site of the “Japan World Exposition (Osaka Expo)” held in 1970. Within the park are the “Natural and Cultural Gardens,” the “Japanese Garden,” in addition to other cultural, athletic and leisure facilities. The “Natural and Cultural Gardens” is centered around the “Tower of the Sun,” the symbol of the Expo created by the artist, Taro Okamoto. While showing an aspect of Japan such as the changing seasons, the chirping birds, the flagrant flowers to enjoy nature, and the waterfalls and flow of the water wheel, it also holds various events at the festival and grass plazas. In addition, the “Japanese Garden” which was one of the exhibitions by the Japanese government during the Osaka Expo, the interior of the Tower of the Sun (a cultural facility since 2018) are open to the public. Inside the tower are exhibits such as the “Tree of Life” and the “Underground Sun” that was recreated in the Prologue Space, there are exhibits that highlight the excitement that surrounded the Osaka Expo.
