Abe Seimei Shrine

Abe Seimei Shrine is the traditional birthplace of Abe Seimei, a place where Abe Seimei, an onmyoji who has become popular in recent years, is enshrined. There is a legend that Abe Seimei was born to his father, Yasuna Abe, who was a wealthy family in Abeno, and a white fox named Kuzunoha. The song Kuzunoha wrote on a shoji screen when it was discovered that she was a white fox is very famous: ``I'll ask you if I miss you, Izumi Naru Shinta no Mori no Urami Kuzunoha.'' According to the shrine's legend, Abe Seimei Shrine was founded in 1007, two years after Seimei's death. On the grounds, there is a monument built during the Bunsei era of Edo to mark the birthplace of Seimei, and the ruins of a hot spring bath.It reached the height of its prosperity, but fell into decline at the end of the Edo period. It is said that it was rebuilt in 1921 as a subsidiary shrine of Abe Oji Shrine located 50 meters south, and the current shrine building was built in 1925. The daily fortune-telling corner held on the grounds is also very popular.
