Kozenji Temple: Free public special opening to commemorate completion of repairs to the Important Cultural Property Three Buddha Statues [Osaka Destination Campaign Special Opening]

To commemorate the completion of approximately four years of repair work on the principal image of the temple, the seated Vairocana Buddha (Misaki Great Buddha), the seated Shaka Nyorai statue, and the seated Yakushi Nyorai statue, all of which are Important Cultural Properties (formerly National Treasures) enshrined in the main hall, the three Buddha statues will be open to the public for the first time since their repair, free of charge.
Basic information
The three Buddha statues enshrined in the main hall, the principal image of the temple, the seated Dainichi Nyorai, the seated Shaka Nyorai, and the seated Yakushi Nyorai, are all important cultural properties (formerly national treasures) made in the late Heian period. The principal image in particular is a gigantic statue of nearly 3 meters, full of dignity, and is affectionately known locally as the "Cape Great Buddha." All three statues were severely damaged over the years, so they were repaired over a period of about four years, and to commemorate the completion of the repairs, they will be open to the public for the first time since the repairs, free of charge.
