"Osaka National Treasure Three Kannon Temples Tour" Special Opening of Kanshinji Temple, Kuzuiji Temple, and Domyoji Temple (③ Kanshinji Temple) [Osaka Destination Campaign Special Opening]

Minamikawachi is one of the areas with the largest concentration of national treasures in Japan, and there are three temples, Kanshinji, Kuzuiji, and Domyoji, that enshrines the Kannon Bodhisattva, a national treasure, as their principal image. In 2025, in addition to the usual date of April 18th, the principal image of all three temples* will be open to the public on the 17th, the day before, and on this occasion, the "Osaka National Treasure Three Kannon Tour" has been created. By touring the three temples, visitors can experience the rich history and culture that exists in Minamikawachi. *This year only, Domyoji will have the former national treasure, now Important Cultural Property, Eleven-Headed Kannon statue, due to its principal image, the National Treasure Eleven-Headed Kannon statue, being exhibited at the Osaka Municipal Museum of Fine Arts.

Basic information

The principal image of the temple, the Nyoirin Kannon statue, enshrined in a cabinet in the Golden Hall, a National Treasure built in the early Muromachi period, is a painted six-armed (six-handed) statue 109.4cm tall. It is called Nyoirin Kannon because it holds a wish-granting jewel. It is said to be the greatest Buddhist statue in esoteric Buddhism art from the Heian period, and is National Treasure No. 5. It is a secret Buddha statue that can only be worshiped for two days each year, on April 17th and 18th.

・Numbered admission tickets will go on sale from 8:30 a.m. on both days.
- A maximum of 100 people will be allowed to enter the Kondo Hall, where the secret Buddha statue is on display, every 30 minutes starting at 9:30 a.m.
[Reference] The Treasure Museum (Reihokan) is open to the public from 8:30am.

[For those coming by train]
■From Kawachinagano Station on the Nankai Koya Line or Kintetsu Nagano Line, take the Nankai Bus Kobuka Line bound for Kongo Mountain Ropeway or the Kobukidai Danchi Line bound for Kobukidai, and get off at the bus stop Kanshinji. Taxi stands are located in front of both Kawachinagano Station and Mikkaichimachi Station.
